Guardian Demon in #HDH bloghop

HUMP DAY HOOK is a weekly blog hop where each participating author posts one paragraph from either a published book or work in progress. My excerpt comes from Trails of Love I Crawl Part 2. Today the spotlight is on Belial, the Prince of Trickery, the Lord of Lust and the Antilight.

Belial kept his softest pet close, allowing the boy to find solace in his arms. There were moments when his playthings were ready to handle his games, moments when they had to be punished harshly and moments when they needed freely given affection. And this was the last case. The lives of his mortal pets seemed to have plenty of suffering even without his games. And besides, it did feel good to have the boy leaning against his body so trustingly. The sweet weight pressing itself into his embrace and the scent of gingerbread struck a protective chord in him. Oh yes, he knew he had one. And though he also knew he wasn’t the only one in the realm of Darkness who suffered from this malady, it wasn’t a theme to be talked about there. It wasn’t a theme to be talked about anywhere in fact. But it didn’t stop him from enjoying this little escape from his more fearful ways.

PS for those who are not familiar with my books: All characters in my novels are of legal age. While some of them are affectionately called boys by their older partners, there are no underage protagonists.
