This Sunday’s snippet comes from my recently published gay paranormal romance, Trails of Love I Crawl Part 2.
Their tongues tangled greedily, urgently, with all the lust for love and life. With all the fear of separation. With all the defiance against the looming spectre of death. And when their lips parted, all what he could breathe was: “Good night, Luci,” where he really meant I love you. But he couldn’t say that for his voice would have broken. But still the trembling answer: “Good night, Philippe,” sounded like the other three words.

Mmmm steamy! I especially love the first three lines: “Their tongues tangled greedily, urgently, with all the lust for love and life. With all the fear of separation. With all the defiance against the looming spectre of death.” This is so true. Best lines I’ve seen to describe what it’s like to love someone. Ever. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Cheryl for your praise. I’m delighted you loved the snippet so much. It comes from a very emotional scene which makes me cry every time I read it. I’m happy the power of their emotions spoke so clearly to you through this excerpt.
gods, how I love those two! When someone can say what needs to be said when it needs to be said without using the exact words and still their beloved knows what it means, it’s a beautiful thing.
Thank you, Jade. They’re so beautiful together and their love is so tender. The words they said in the scene and what they didn’t say but felt are sweet professions of love that make me cry every time. And I’ve read the scene over for plenty of times
Very sensual and yet brimming with sadness as well. Lovely six.
Thank you for reading and I’m happy you enjoyed the snippet. It was a very emotional night for both of them. The kind of night when sadness mingles with hope. There will be another snippet from the same night and scene posted on Wednesday here, in case you wanted to meet Philippe again. Every week on Wednesday one character from the novel is introduced in a post in Hump Day Hook blog hop. There have already been several posts with little excerpts from the novel posted on my blog, so if you’d like to, feel free to explore around a bit.
Quite powerful. There’s a sadness I feel underlying. It was as if their words meant even more than we know.
Thank you, Paloma. I’m happy you enjoyed reading about Philippe and Lucien. This scene is from the same night when Étienne faced his own inner turmoil too. It’s an important night for the men of Vignesbelie family and their lovers. There will be more from the same scene in the next HDH post, another paragraph about Philippe. I hope to see you here on Wednesday
